On Sunday we went back to Fattoria Il Poggio for a cooking lesson and lunch!
They taught us how to make traditional Tuscan foods. We started out with bolognase sauce for our future pasta. Then moved onto a couple different spreads for our crostinis. The first spread was a sautéed mushroom spread. The second was a fresh tomato spread. Although, since it is winter, our tomatoes were not fresh. They were very sorry they couldn't give us fresh tomatoes but they still tasted absolutely delicious. Finally, we made our fresh pasta. It is so much easier than many of us were anticipating and we had fun doing it. They taught us how to cut it into various shapes including linguini, tortellini, and ravioli.
After the lesson we moved into their restaurant area to eat! They had some delicious white and red wines (the ones we had tasted on Saturday) on the table for our enjoyment. The first course was, of course, fresh pasta with bolognase sauce. The second course was sausage, ribs, and chicken with boiled potatoes. For dessert we had some wonderful tiramisu.
Overall we had a wonderful time at Fattoria Il Poggio and are grateful to the people there for making it so enjoyable.
Caio!
